IN MEMORIUM
A SOLDIERS WIFE IS BURIED TODAY Dorothy Luella Thompson O'Donnell Dorothy was the wife of Master Sergeant Charles "Chuck" O'Donnell who served with the proud 187th Rakassan ARCT in Korea. Chuck passed away just last December, 2008. Dorothy and her husband founded the Condor Chapter of the 187th Airborne Rakassans, and she was active as it's secretary, and all around "go-to girl". Dorothy was the proud owner of a vintage WWII Jeep, which she loaned out to the local DAV for them to restore to WWII condition, which is still used in local parades. Aside from that, after returning from overseas in 1954 - where her husband was stationed at the Ernst Ludwig Kaserne in Darmstadt, Germany, as the First Sgt of B Battery, of the 674th FA Bn, during which time, their first child Christina was born - Dorothy helped her husband manage her parents retail lumber yard in Oxnard California, which later became their own. They would eventually have 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren Dorothy was an avid gardener, who loved her plants and gardening. She also once raised chickens in her back yard - right inside the city. It could be said of Dorothy, who in early years was brought up on a ranch in Thousand Oaks, California: "You can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl." Having spent time in an orphanage as a young girl, Dorothy was always the giving and loving kind, looking after and benefitting others. I know this because as her birth brother, I came from the same orpahanage with her. From the beginning, being 5 years older than I, she was always my Today, she is my sister, my wifes sister-in-law, and together, our: VERY BEST FRIEND
Jim Thompson and my beloved sister Dorothy
