Before we return to 1956 -1958, let's stay in the present for a moment.
A SHORT 2000 ERA RED SCARF CLUB RE-CAP
The "Red Scarf Club" was formed with a couple of the guys talking about getting together with their wives for a "Dinner and a Show". Since both families lived near Branson, Mo, and it had enough entertainment to last for a long while, it was chosen as our home base. We have since had a "Picnic" at the Thompson's, a "Grand Lunch" at Selby's, and enjoyed the dinner boat ride and show of the "Branson Belle". We have also attended the Dolly Parton "Dixie Stampede" dinner show, the "Spirit of the Dance" Irish dancers, the Brenda Lee, Ray Stevens, Frankie Avalon, and the Baldknobbers shows, and have gone to the WWII Museum and toured the Dick Clark 1957 Auto Classics Museum as well as the Titantic exhibition and had dinner aboard the Missouri to Arkansas round trip Dinner Train - Whew!!! Last year, we enjoyed our 6th "get-together", with a lunch on the Bass Pro floating, "White River Fish House Restaurant" - afterwards, touring the shops of the newly rebuilt old Branson, now called the Branson Landing. That evening we saw the Oak Ridge Boys in their new theatre, and the next morning enjoyed two hours of the Twelve Irish Tenors, at the Branson Variety Theater.
We have now just completed our 6th reunion, and are already talking about the feasibility of another one in the fall, or at least next spring
See the EVENTS page for details of this most recent "get-together".
If any 553rd FA Bn 1956-1958 veteran, or the wife of a veteran, living or deceased, would like to join us, please contact any member listed on the CONTACT US page of this site. Participation is by invitation only.
